A part of this model is having a team of specialized referral clerks that centralize all referrals to optimize patient support.
About the Role
The Referral Clerk, under the direction of the Centralized Services Manager, will primarily be responsible for receiving, processing, scheduling and following up on all medical referral requests, including in-house and outside referrals for diagnostic testing, medical specialists, or other providers.
Role Responsibilities:
- Make patient care referrals to third party stakeholders
- Documents all referrals and forward referral documents to appropriate Satori clinics and/or departments
- Follow up on referrals in a timely manner to assure that appointments are made for appropriate care or testing.
- Answer patient inquiries and take messages for follow up.
- Assist physicians, nurse practitioners and MOAs in completing all medical documentation needed to provide referral services following the specific procedure for what is sent to specific entities.
- Handle highly confidential health information in a manner consistent with the Satori Confidentially Oath and compliant with the AB Health Information Act.

Requirements:
- Previous experience with medical referrals, ideally across Calgary and area
- Medical Secretary, Medical Office Assistant or Unit Clerk Diploma an asset
- Experience with Accuro considered an asset
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to communicate and work effectively on a multidisciplinary team
- Proficient in use of computers and other office equipment
- Excellent organizational and problemsolving skills
- Strong knowledge of general office procedures involving procurement, budget management, reports, etc.
- Previous experience handling confidential or sensitive information; knowledge of applicable data privacy laws
- Able to maintain filing systems and basic databases
- Meticulous records maintenance skills
- Able to manage time efficiently and prioritize multiple tasks
- Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service orientation
Satori Health offers a compensation package that includes health & dental benefits, paid time off, flex time for family commitments and a positive, collaborative team environment.
Salary:
$20.00-$25.00 per hour
