Kennedy House (KH) is a not-for-profit organization with a long-standing dedication to providing exceptional personalized care for youth in the Greater Toronto Area for over 50 years.

KH started with an initial family-like group home in 1971 and currently operates several residential and community-based programs, for marginalized and at-risk youth, including:


  • Two residential homes for young people in care;
  • Three homes for youth and young adults living with developmental disabilities;
  • A Day Treatment school program for youth struggling in the typical school setting;
  • Kennedy House Youth Centre, a secure custody facility for male youth experiencing conflict with the law;
  • Bailiff services to safely and securely transport youth experiencing conflict with the law;
  • Kennedy House After School Program for children aged 413 in underserved communities throughout Scarborough; and
  • Kennedy House Youth Shelter, for youth aged 1624 experiencing homelessness.

***Kennedy House - Residential Services Division is looking for a dynamic, consultative, and results-oriented professional to join our team in the role of Supervisor 2 (Assistant Supervisor) at our Galloway Road program. This is an in-person full-time position based on 40 hours per week.


Reporting to the Supervisor 1, the Supervisor 2 provides professional supervisory oversight to developmental service workers at Galloway Road program.

This position supervises the quality of services provided to our clients, youth between the ages of 13 and 18 living with Intellectual and/or Developmental delay.

The Supervisor 2 is also responsible for high-level case management and oversight with various levels of the Ontario Provincial Government, including the Ministry of Community and Social Services.

The Supervisor 2 acts as a source of advice and expertise to program staff.

He/she is expected to have a clear understanding and ability to perform all Developmental Service Worker (DSW) expectations within the program and to fill in where necessary.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To have a clear understanding of all events which transpire in their program on a daily basis, hence, the Program Supervisor 2 must review all documentation each day to aid him/her in this responsibility
  • Supervises the quality of services provided to the youth/individuals in our care.
  • Ensuring that the level of communication and partnership with placement workers, case facilitators, families, schools, including the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and the Ministry of Community and Social Services are professional and timely in nature.
  • Acts as a source of advice, guidance and expertise to the Developmental Service Workers within the program
  • Expected to have a clear understanding and ability to perform all Developmental Service Worker (DSW) expectations within the program and to fill in where necessary.
Share on call support to residential programs on a rotating schedule.


EDUCATION

  • DSW Diploma, or a College Diploma/ University degree with a focus on Social Services and Behavioural Science, 1+ years work experience is required.
  • College Diploma/ University degree in an unrelated field, 2+ years of work experience is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred two+ years of experience in program supervision or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the skills knowledge and ability necessary to perform the tasks
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR level C is mandatory
  • Current certification in CPI is an asset
  • Valid Class G Driver's License is mandatory
  • Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Search must be current and maintained. Concerns and/or issues regarding the police check and Vulnerable Sector Search will be taken into consideration and does not preclude employment.
  • Clear knowledge of developmental needs (intellectual, emotional, physical, and social) of youth
  • Clinical skills, including experience and ability working with and managing difficult behaviour
  • Ability to work with as well as deal appropriately with individuals in care as well as to the families of each individual
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for liaising and communicating with colleagues and various agencies
  • Knowledge of formal and informal resources available in the greater Toronto area
  • Broad awareness of cultures, values, identities and perspectives with a demonstrated ability and interest in working with diverse populations
  • Ability to write legible, clear and concise reports and personcentred plans
  • Demonstrate maturity and reliability at all times
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
