JOB INFORMATION:


  • We are currently seeking a Structure Maintainer.
  • This position may involve working night shifts with Thursday and Friday as off days and various work reporting locations, which may vary as directed by work assignments

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Under the supervision of Track & Structure Department supervisory staff, you will perform structure maintenance, repair and cleaning duties on station, tunnel and bridge structures and associated track drainage systems.
  • The work involves water jetting, track drainage system cleaning, minor structural concrete repairs, placement of concrete and grout, setup and operation of pressure washers and drainage cleaning equipment.
  • In addition, you will carryout workcar monitoring duties, perform type 1 or type 2 asbestos removal duties as required and provide assistance to Structure Mechanics and Repairpersons.
  • This is a 40 hour work week involving night shifts with Thursday/Friday off days.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:


  • You require training normally obtained through the completion of Grade 10 education.
  • You must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions as demonstrated by an ability to understand and follow published operating/safety regulations.
  • You must be able to effectively communicate verbally in order to exchange information and instructions with the Transit Control Centre, supervisory and unionized personnel.
  • You must possess practical experience and knowledge of mechanical and structural maintenance; placement of concrete; use of concrete and grouting materials; concrete repairs to track inverts; maintenance and use of auguring, snaking and pressure washing equipment.
  • This would normally be acquired through approximately 6 months of structure drainage and cleaning maintenance and concrete rehabilitation/construction experience. You must possess a valid nonprobationary Class "G" Province of Ontario Driver's Licence.
  • You may be required to attain certification for vacuum car operations.
