SUMMARY OF ROLE:


Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Piping Estimator will be responsible for pricing and pre-construction phases of piping projects, providing Construction support services as required to meet project needs, coordinating pricing with Subcontractors and other Project trades while also administering, negotiating, and analyzing the various stages of construction.


Applicants with specific or entry level experience, combined with the appropriate level of education will also be considered and training will be provided.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND/OR SERVICES PROVIDED:


  • Review Client bid packages to determine resources required to complete request for quotations.
  • Coordinate estimates between trades involved, ensuring tender scope is being fully accounted for in the most costefficient manner.
  • Review bid documents and determine which subcontractors need to be involved in the completion of the bid.
  • Prepare detailed bid packages/scopes of work for applicable trades and subcontractors for their use in preparing supporting quotations.
  • Assemble pricing while evaluating proposals from multiple sources.
  • Assess cost of rentals, tools, equipment, nonproductive labour and determine average labour rate
  • Participate in tender proposal requirements, including
  • Review of terms and conditions
  • Bonding and insurance requirements
  • Tender breakdown requirements
  • Organization charts and resumes
  • Company experience
  • Craft rates and markups for additional work
  • Preliminary schedules
  • Execution plans
  • Upon completion of an estimate, prior to submitting to the customer, review with the Estimating Manager providing input into the following items as a minimum:
  • labour efficiencies and productivity related issues
- indirect labour requirements
- construction equipment requirements
- overhead and profit levels

  • Prepare material takeoff
  • Participate in post tender activities, such as
- coordination of sales effort and follow up
- tender review meeting
- tender negotiations
- project initiation activities
- project support for awarded contracts

  • Attend kick off meetings as required
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and awareness of current market conditions affecting the cost of construction
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable ASME codes, contract laws and obligations, material specifications, scheduling and regional variations affecting the supply of labour, materials and modern construction methods
  • Ensures responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited Environmental Health and Safety Management Program and OHSA requirements.
  • Ensures that environmental aspects within their sphere of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Understanding for TSSA requirements and regulations for projects and related costs

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Completion of a College Diploma in a Technical Discipline or Equivalent Construction Industry Piping Trade Experience
  • Knowledge of Piping systems & Estimating in Industrial, Commercial, Institutional Industries
  • Knowledge of multitrade disciplines

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE OR SKILLS:


  • Experience utilizing computer software to complete estimates
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel), Microsoft Project and 3D viewing software
  • Excellent organizational skills
