    Description

    Position Overview:

    Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Records and Archives, we are seeking an Access and Privacy Specialist to handle all formal access to information requests under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). The specialist will play a key role in investigating privacy breaches, conducting Privacy Impact Assessments, providing guidance on privacy compliance, and ensuring organizational policies align with legislation. Additionally, they will oversee training, monitor activities for compliance, and assist with submissions to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC).

    Responsibilities:

    • Act as the main point of contact for access and privacy inquiries.
    • Process requests under MFIPPA, including appeals to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.
    • Research access and privacy issues, consult with stakeholders, and provide recommendations on exemptions.
    • Review Privacy Impact Assessments and recommend privacy risk mitigation.
    • Lead the design and implementation of the City's Privacy Program, including training delivery.
    • Offer advice on personal information handling, investigate privacy incidents, and respond to breaches.
    • Perform other assigned duties.

    Requirements:

    • 3-year degree/diploma in a relevant field.
    • At least 1 year of related experience.
    • Experience in privacy incident response and Privacy Impact Assessments.
    • Knowledge of privacy principles and legislation like MFIPPA.
    • Ability to deliver training programs on access and privacy.
    • Strong analytical and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
    • Excellent customer service and conflict management skills.
    • Reliability and positive employment record.

    Location & Compensation:

    • Location: City Hall, Kitchener
    • Hours: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday
    • Compensation: $62,228 - $77,784 annually, increasing to $63,682 - $79,602 after November 1
