SCOPE OF THE POSITION
This critical leadership role will oversee the transportation and warehouse team including the warehouse operations. This role works externally with our carrier network across North America for both inbound and outbound freight.

Within Skjodt-Barrett, this leader works daily with Operations to ensure raw & package inventory is available for production and manages cross-functionally with Sales, Quality, and Finance.

The span of accountability covers all inbound freight from the Suppliers, timely and cost-efficient receipt and storage of inventory (i.e. either 3PL or company owned), movement of inventory in the staging area for production, return of finished goods inventory from production and impeccable customer service.

In addition, there will be a need to drive continuous improvement via Lean methodologies in the warehouse resulting in world-class safety, product integrity and low-cost logistics.


MORE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


  • Lead daily operations in the warehouse instilling a culture of safety, product integrity and low cost.
  • Work across Suppliers, Operations and S&OP to ensure materials are available for production and received post production.
  • Work closely with Customers and Suppliers, ensure inbound and outbound freight is optimized and ensuring integrity in the cold chain where applicable.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Maintains and further improves picking, staging, storing, shipping, receiving, overall warehousing and distribution operations by establishing, coordinating, and enforcing ways of working and personnel policies and procedures. These would be executed through your guidance and collaboration with your supporting team members.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Ensures inventory in ERP is maintained timely and accurately by warehouse staff.
  • Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Monitoring the performance of the network through existing scorecard metrics, developing new ones where necessary and ensures their achievement.
  • Establish Lean tools that instill a culture of continuous improvement. Performs investigations, RCA, CAPA and has experience with 5S or other organization systems.
  • Continuously look to develop and refine tools, process to deliver on KPI targets.
  • Directly manage the supporting team of Supervisors, Inventory Control Analyst, Transportation Scheduler, Warehouse Administrator and Receiving Specialist. There is a strong focus on driving results, mentoring, coaching and development to constantly increase the potential of the team in a very collaborative culture.

  • Reports safety issues promptly to management.

EQUIPMENT USED

  • Licenses or ability to become licensed for operation of sitdown, counterbalanced forklift as minimum requirement.

THE CANDIDATE:


  • University or college degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in a warehouse Supervisory role.
  • Proven knowledge of warehouse policies and procedures.
  • Preference to Certified Supply Chain Management Professionals (cSCMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or completion of certification is in process.
  • A proven servant leader that has a track record of attracting and developing talent.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Excellent problemsolving skills.
  • Numeracy and an understanding of finance.
  • Firm understanding of the legal requirements of warehouse operations.
  • Proficient with ERP Systems (Microsoft D365, SAP, Oracle) and advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Able to travel
