Status:
Full-time, 35 hours per week

positive and safe experience for our members.


Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Brand & Communications, the successful incumbent will work closely with

digital creation.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Manager, Brand and Communications to plan, write, create and publish content for
Variety's audiences to support strategic and operational goals.

  • Support Facility, Membership, Programs, Teams, Fundraising & Events with all communications needs.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Biannual Program Guide, Newsletter, Blogs, Interviews
content for diverse channels and stakeholders while maintaining brand standards.

  • Photograph, create, edit and manipulate videos and photos.
  • Combine creativity and technology to create visual assets for use across multiple mediums including print
and digital.

  • Use design tools, animation software and recording equipment to create audio, text, animation and visual
effects.

  • Coordinate the design of promotional material and distribute in online and offline channels.
  • Participate in the creation and execution of communication plans and materials from concept through to
production, execution and measurement.

  • Contribute to and advise on communication strategies, ensuring accuracy and appropriate messaging in
collaboration with the overall Communication Strategy.

  • Evaluate the success of communication projects and programs, developing future recommendations
based on analysis of results.

  • Champion clear, concise writing across the organization while reinforcing Variety's brand narrative and
style guide.

  • Create, copy and edit corporate publications ensuring accuracy of information and alignment with
Variety's strategic plan and internal briefing documents.

  • Proactively identify communication channels and initiatives to support business objectives.
  • Update and Produce marketing copy for our website.
  • Monitor corporate website and social media pages and address clients' queries.
  • Network with industry experts and potential clients to drive brand awareness.
  • Gather customer feedback through surveys.
  • Track ROI for marketing campaigns.
  • Monitoring, maintaining and responding to public media inquiries.
  • Participating in company training that includes Health & Safety, AODA, and Plan to Protect.
  • Participating in Variety's Orientation program and adhere to established organizational policies and
protocols.

  • Handling other duties as assigned.

Key Competencies and Qualifications:


  • A degree or diploma in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing, graphic design or related
field.

  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in developing, creating and implementing creative
assets or content in support of strategic corporate internal and external communications initiatives.

  • Critical thinking, decision making and problemsolving skills in a fast paced, complex and continually
changing environment.

  • Demonstrated advanced level of skill in writing communications materials with experience in various
mediums and styles including employee communication materials, web copy, social media content,

speaking remarks, presentations and general correspondence.

  • Demonstrated experience with graphic design and video editing software.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Products, Adobe Creative Suite and webbased tools
(Canva, Mailchimp, Survey Monkey, etc.).

  • Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics.
  • Excellent editing skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong relationshipbuilding and networking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively or in a team setting.
  • Capable of working without direct authority and with tact and good judgment to achieve results.
  • Fluency in French and/or other languages is considered an asset.
  • Must be capable of performing light physical demands which may be related to the job.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Full G driver's license in good standing is an asset (e.g. driving on site).
  • Sound knowledge of Indigenous relations, including the social, political and historic
