Description

The Physician and Provider Services Division is seeking a skilled professional who possesses the requisite skills and expertise to develop and implement ministry programs, manage contracts with health care providers and relationships with health care stakeholders.


The Ministry

Ministry of Health is responsible for administering the health care system and providing services to the Ontario public through such programs as health insurance, drug benefits, assistive devices, care for the mentally ill, long-term care, home care services, community and public health, health promotion and disease prevention.

It also regulates hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care homes; operates psychiatric hospitals and medical laboratories; and coordinates emergency health services.


The Branch

The Negotiations branch provides leadership and direction for planning, priority setting and negotiation of accountability agreements with individual providers and health care organizations to maximize the ministry's investments in the health care system.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role you will:

  • monitor the performance of an assigned portfolio and measure its success against service targets
- identify areas of non-compliance and risk, and work with providers/stakeholders to resolve issues
- conduct research and analysis to support negotiation of contracts, and the development and implementation of program policies/plans
- prepare and document results/research findings, and provide recommendations to senior management
- develop and build partnerships with key stakeholders
- conduct payment reconciliations and assist with corporate financial planning and reporting


How do I qualify?:


Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

You have:

  • Knowledge of research and analytical techniques to review and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare operational and financial reports
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to synthesize information from multiple sources to make recommendations
  • Ability to identify and research problems and draft options and recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple issues

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

You have:

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders
  • Advisory and consultation skills to provide advice and liaise with service providers
  • Oral and written communication skills to draft papers, reports, analyses, correspondence, and related materials
  • Presentation skills to present findings to senior staff

Program Knowledge and Skills:

You have:

  • Knowledge of program and policy development principles for the analysis and preparation of policy/ program design options/recommendations
  • Knowledge of program analysis/evaluation techniques to assess the effectiveness of new/changed policies and programs and to provide recommendations

Technical Skills:

You have:

  • Proficiency with computer software to prepare written materials
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare project schedules, conduct research on the internet, and utilize databases
