    Description:

    As a Senior Structural CADD Designer, you will support projects that span multiple disciplines within our organization in order to deliver high quality and sustainable solutions to our clients. You will have the opportunity to expand your career by working on exciting and high-profile water, waste, and energy projects.

    Your experience in the industry and/or consulting, as well as your project and people skills will enable you to make a difference in our industry and inspire new and better ways to implement engineering and water management solutions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop sketches, preliminary design, and finished grading drawings, and Engineering Packages from general conceptual information and design notes using a variety of 2D and 3D CAD software for Water Infrastructure Projects.
    • Applying design standards and principles in compliance with all applicable Codes and Specifications such as CSA, NBC, API, ASME, ANSI, etc.
    • Checking work and assisting in training of less experienced drafting and design personnel.
    • Supporting field teams as needed during construction including surveying, field construction observation, inspection, and administration of field works.
    • Liaising with engineers and other disciplines to achieve high quality and constructible design packages.
    • Prepare structural engineering designs from conceptual design through to detailed design, tender and construction in accordance with Canadian Codes and Standards. Working with other national codes may be required, pending project requirements.
    • Mentor junior team members.
    • Foster critical relationships with clients, technical and non-technical staff, government representatives, and technology suppliers.

    Position Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 10+ years of proven experience in structural engineering design, 3D modelling and drafting.
    • Diploma in Civil Design Course or Engineering Design Technology (or equivalent) is preferred.
    • Registration with Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta, or qualifications to apply are preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Requirements:

    • Initiative and accountability – self-starter, take ownership and responsibility.
    • Proven ability to multitask efficiently and flexibility to respond to changes in priorities.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills – ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Decision-making and problem solving ability.
    • Proven understanding of design and drafting principles with practical engineering skills in a consulting environment.
    • Designated Structural Engineer (Struct. Eng.) in AB/BC preferred.
    • Experience designing heavy steel and concrete structures.
    • Proficiency in the application of Canadian Codes and Standards.
    • Experience with preparation of clear, construction execution plans, technical notes and client presentations.
    • Advanced knowledge of software including MS Word and Excel, AutoCAD, REVIT, Inventor and Navisworks.
    • Experience in field survey data collection including using differential GPS systems and Total Station equipment is an asset.
    • Excellent English communication skills, and experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports.
    • Legally able to work in Canada.
