Reporting to the Settlement Coordinator, the
Settlement Officer is responsible for delivering a client-centered community-driven service model to support Ukrainian nationals arriving on CUAET visas settling in Canada as well as working collaboratively with the various ANC divisions to assess, develop and deliver individual, family and group services for Ukrainian clients living in the St.

John's Metro Area.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver settlement information, orientation, and case management services to Ukrainian newcomers, assessing their individual and community needs.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to address service gaps and ensure comprehensive support for clients.
  • Conduct community needs assessments to gather key information for decisionmaking and program development.
  • Create communication tools and resources, including print, electronic, social media, and other platforms, to support settlement and integration needs.
  • Support clients in transitioning from temporary accommodation to community living, providing information, referrals, and settlement counseling services.
  • Provide individual, family, and community services, including information and referral, accompaniment, home visits, and group activities, to assist clients in living independently and integrating successfully.
  • Offer information and referral services to connect clients with various community agencies, professional services, settlement resources, and social services.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, volunteers, and stakeholders to identify and resolve settlement and integration issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of client statistics, accomplishments, and activities for monthly reporting.
  • Fulfill other duties as required to support the settlement team and ANC's mission.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant Human Services degree (equivalencies will be considered) and/or a combination of education and experience in related fields
  • Fluency in Ukrainian required
  • Experience working with stakeholders to develop information and communication tools
  • Skilled in crisis intervention, conflict resolution and deescalation
  • Ability to effectively engage with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication (both written and oral) skills
  • Previous case management experience supporting a vulnerable population
  • Knowledge of specific issues facing refugees and immigrants
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience developing goals, timelines, and delivery methods to achieve set objectives
  • Accurately record and compile client statistics and accomplishments to include in monthly activity reports
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset

Conditions of Employment

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset
  • Flexible to work outside of standard core hours (Monday-Friday, 9am 5pm)
