    PermanentAbout the RoleThe Adolescent Day Program provides group, family and individual therapy while also providing education in a small classroom setting.

    Youth are encouraged to strengthen their existing abilities and develop new skills. Areas of focus include interpersonal relationships, problem solving, conflict management, organization and family function. Youth attend the program daily during the school year.


    The Mental Health Therapist will:
    Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social mental health assessments for patients.
    Develop and implement treatment plans using a variety of treatment approaches.
    Formulate a diagnosis, when applicable, using the DSM V-TR and/or other diagnostic tools as appropriate.

    Provide therapeutic interventions to support the patient in achieving therapeutic goals utilizing a variety of developmentally appropriate treatment approaches including family therapy, individual therapy and group therapy.

    Facilitate psycho-educational and/or therapeutic groups for adolescents and parents.

    Carry out case management functions including:

    convening case conferences and liaising with community services and other professionals involved with the youth and family (especially education, social services, justice and health).Participate in the intake and discharge process.

    Complete written discharge summaries.
    Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.
    Advocate on behalf of the youth and family as appropriate.
    QualificationsGraduate degree in psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation), occupational therapy or nursing.
    A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions. Experience in schools or the education system is preferred.
    Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
    Conditions of EmploymentA satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
    A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
    Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.

    Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
