Manager of Environment:


Regular Full-Time


As the Manager of Environment, you will be responsible for leading a team of professionals by providing direction and guidance to staff members while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal departments, applicants and external stakeholders.

In addition, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of environmental protection strategies and policies, administration of Trees and Soils Bylaws and Official Community Plan guidelines, as well as related permitting services for the District of Squamish.


_Key Responsibilities include:
_


  • Provides leadership and directs the daytoday tasks and projects of the Environment department when it comes to environmental protection standards and permitting functions.
  • Develops and implements environmental protection policies, standards, bylaws and strategies that align with the District of Squamish's environmental goals and objectives.
  • Represents the District by acting as the liaison and providing technical advice and support to various federal, provincial and municipal agencies, community interest groups, the public, other external stakeholders.
  • Ensures the District's compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and policies, including overseeing the preparation of environmental impact assessments and other regulatory submissions.

_ Who you are:

_You possess a bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, planning, engineering, or a related field and you have a minimum of five years of progressive responsibility working in environmental review services and/or policy.

In addition, you are a Registered Professional or have the ability to become registered, with the Association of Registered Professional Biologists of British Columbia.

Experience managing in a unionized environment is an asset.
