    Description

    If you are interested in joining a dynamic team to provide executive support as well as strategic policy and program advice to senior management in a high-profile, fast-paced work environment, then bring your expertise to the Assistant Deputy Minister's Office in the Community and Supportive Housing Division where you will provide information and advice to help shape the future of the province's housing and homelessness policies and programs.


    Your experience in collaborating across partner ministries and agencies, as well as engaging and consulting directly with key stakeholders will help drive workable improvements across government, and your project management, coordination, and analytical thinking skills will assist in developing sound policies and initiatives aimed at strategic housing priorities.

    What can I expect to do in this role?

    In this role, you will:


    • Undertake policy development and program analysis
    • Provide strategic advice and executive support to senior ministry officials
    • Lead and/ or plan specialized research projects
    • Build relationships within the ministry, with partner ministries and agencies, as well as external stakeholders
    • Provide policy expertise and interpretation of legislation

    How do I qualify?

    Policy and Program Development Expertise



    • You have knowledge of, experience with, or ability to acquire knowledge of community housing legislation, and various public and private stakeholders in the housing sector in order to provide sound advice on strategic housing priorities
    • You have knowledge and experience in applying policy and program development techniques and practices
    • You have program design and analysis skills to evaluate, develop and implement strategic policy and program initiatives
    • You can assess policy and make recommendations for positive change

    Research, Analysis and Problem-Solving



    • You have research skills to conduct environment scans, trends, gaps and needs analysis, undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis, and comparative analysis of options, impacts, and best practices in the housing sector
    • You can strategically think, conceptualize and identify options
    • You can evaluate issues and recommend options, considering fiscal implications

    Communication and Interpersonal



    • You have consultation and partnership building skills to establish key stakeholder linkages across the OPS and in federal, provincial, territorial and municipal jurisdictions
    • You have consensus-building, mediation and negotiation skills to gain support for ministry policy and program initiatives
    • You have presentation, persuasion and communication skills to prepare, present, and explain ideas and analyses, and to provide policy advice to senior ministry officials
    • You have facilitation skills, diplomacy, political acuity and business acumen, to represent the ministry and province
    • You can respond to issues, provide recommendations, prepare reports, analyses, Cabinet submissions, briefing materials and correspondence

    Project Management



    • You have project management experience to plan and lead project teams, including providing guidance and advice to team members
