Convergint is currently looking for a Security Service/IT Technician for the Greater Montreal area, based in our Laval office. This position is responsible for providing customer and technical support for installed systems. Services and supports existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs and small projects business.

Scope of work includes technical assistance, systems checkout of new and existing installations, troubleshooting and maintenance and repair routines associated with installed Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation Systems and the installation of small or less complex projects.

What you'll do with "Our Training and Your Experience"

  • Responds to routine and some nonroutine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency service calls on a timely basis; will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and debug systems for routine problems; Uses developing troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. Installs projects as necessary.
  • Identifies and resolves problems for many types of service calls including emergency and afterhours calls; analyzes repair requirements and provides customer with appropriate solutions; completes necessary repairs and replacements as needed; exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
  • Diagnose and solve infrastructure problems (servers/services) from simple to complex customer level
  • Maintain communication networks, monitor network performance, and resolve any technical issues.
  • Assists Project Specialists with IT/networking technical issues on projects. Assists Service Specialists with IT/networking service calls
  • May be responsible for building, maintaining and providing security on routers and firewalls.
  • Identify and analyze recurring incidents to stabilize environments
  • Monitors and reviews system log reports and network documentation.
  • Works directly with client IT/Security departments to ensure all scope and interface is planned and implemented. Provides IT, networking and security consulting support for clients as necessary
  • Completes accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
  • Executes all work in accordance with Provincial, local regulations, general best practices as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Consults with supervisor to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
  • Advises supervisor regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards as well as suggestions for product improvements.
  • Acts as "our customer's best service provider" at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer's first choice for service.
  • Communicates with and works with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center, and company.
  • Keeps up to date and informed on all company policies.
  • Presents a professional image of Convergint at all times in appearance and behaviour.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You'll Need

  • Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted
  • Developing technical skills and experience related to electronic security systems
  • Bilingual in French and English (Oral & Written)
  • Ability to develop basic programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.)
