    About Project Solar:

    Project Solar began when Trevor Hiltbrand, our CEO, shopped around for solar and was shocked by the price and the pushy sales process. As he dove more into the solar industry, Trevor realized that massive savings could be passed on to customers if door-to-door salespeople were removed from the process and customers purchased solar online.

    Matt Smith joined Trevor and they co-founded Project Solar in 2021. By cutting out the door-knocking salespeople and leveraging the power of internet marketing e-commerce, Project Solar creates a more efficient solution that drastically reduces cost while simultaneously improving the customer experience.

    Position Overview:

    Project Solar is looking to add a Senior Front End Developer who enjoys team collaboration, finds passion in new challenges and who freely shares knowledge to help the team produce quality code on time. This individual will have strong technical skills and will delight in making beautiful and highly-performant experiences for users. This individual will want to work on a tech stack with Material UI, React/Remix, and AWS infrastructure. This position will be remote and based in Canada. Most of the team works in the Eastern Time Zone (Ontario, Canada) and this person must be able to work Eastern Time Zone hours.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and collaborate in a multidisciplinary (developers, designers, product) team to deliver quality work on time, being transparent about progress.
    • Generate requirements and prioritize future work to be done.
    • Communicate effectively in both asynchronous and synchronous channels.
    • Implement designed front-end work using React-based frameworks and CSS libraries and frameworks
    • Implement product and checkout experiences on top of Shopify
    • Write clean, efficient, well-tested, and well-documented code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
    • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and consistency across the team.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • 7+ years of front end software development experience
    • Solid knowledge of modern web technologies and techniques such as HTML, CSS (SASS, MaterialUI, CSS modules), JavaScript/TypeScript, (Remix, pure React), and GraphQL
    • Advanced knowledge of writing highly-performant and broadly-compatible front-end experiences.
    • Knowledge of techniques for developing mobile and desktop web applications.
    • Experience with the Backend-for-frontend pattern through TypeScript frameworks like and pure
    • Experience with Shopify and Liquid templating (headless Shopify/Hydrogen is a bonus)
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with teammates and stakeholders.

    Project Solar does not have an entity in Canada. Individuals are hired through Deel, who is the Employer of Record. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in Canada. The compensation range for this position is CAD $145k-$165k. Stock options will also be offered.
