    Know our Team

    Nutrition International promotes an evidence-based approach to advocacy, decision making, multi-sectoral country planning, and the setting of nutrition agendas. The Global Technical Services (GTS) Unit is Nutrition International's Centre of Technical Excellence. The GTS Unit, based in Ottawa, leads on the quality assurance of and technical support to Nutrition International's research and programs to influence and improve national and global policies and practice. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Technical Advisor, IGNIT3 to be based in Ottawa, Canada.

    About the Role

    Nutrition International is seeking a qualified and experienced Technical Advisor to join the IGNIT3 Project team. The Technical Advisor will play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of the Increasing Gains in Nutrition through Integration, Education, Evaluation, and Empowerment (IGNIT3) Project in collaboration with SickKids Centre for Global Child Health and WaterAid Canada.

    Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical support and coordination for the IGNIT3 Project.
  • Analyze and interpret findings from routine monitoring and research.
  • Coordinate technical advice provision by GTS or external experts.
  • Assess and monitor the project team's technical capacity and resource needs.
  • Quality assure project management activities, including consultant selection and scope of work.
  • Support design, implementation, and knowledge exchange of research studies.
  • Troubleshoot and recommend corrective actions, leveraging internal NI expertise.
  • Contribute to knowledge translation documents and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Coordinate quality assurance/technical review of knowledge products.
  • Disseminate NI's work through representation, publications, and policy advocacy.
  • About you

  • Postgraduate level degree in nutrition or public health, or relevant discipline with significant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in nutrition, public health, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in programs related to child survival, health and nutrition, maternal health and nutrition, and/or adolescent health and nutrition.
  • Proven experience in quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Understanding of health systems and girls' and women's health and equity issues.
  • International development experience, preferably in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Experience with gender-responsive program design and implementation is an asset.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally for up to 40 days per year.
  • *NOTE: The successful candidate must be within a commutable distance from NI's headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; or willing to relocate.
