Hybrid:


This is a hybrid role (remote & in-office) as the hiring team will require the student to come to the Markham office approximately 1-2 days a week, dependent on current work duties.

This role is a 8 month position
September 11, April 26, 2024


The role:


Co-op for the IP Systems Engineering and Silicon Support team, to work on developing AMD SerDes IP in deep submicron processes.

This student will work with Pre and Post Silicon design teams along with Platform, ATE, Characterization, and Firmware teams.


Responsibilities include:


  • New product bringup support for latest cutting edge technology developed at AMD
  • Assist in debug of numerous technical issues
  • Post/pre silicon, through lab debug, various simulation/analysis tools, etc.
  • Develop/contribute to diagnostic framework including characterization, debug, margining
  • Improve automation/testing capabilities

What you will learn:


  • Technical understanding of various aspects of SERDES design e.g. CDR/CTLE/PLL/DFE, etc.
  • Scripting capabilities in various languages
  • The lifecycle of hardware chip development from early chip specification through fabrication/silicon manufacturing stages
  • ATE test techniques and flows for production style testing of complex SOCs
  • Presilicon quality analysis for power integrity, signal integrity, clock integrity
  • Skills in technical debugs post and presilicon

Requirements:


  • Strong hardware and software skills
  • An understanding of analog and digital transistor device behavior
  • Python and/or Perl programming
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux OS as well as Windows
  • Lab experience with oscilloscopes, volt meters, logic analyzers, etc
  • Good teamwork and communication skills, strong analytical/problem solving, statistical analysis, attention to details, and able to work independently.
  • Highspeed I/O SerDes design knowledge, understanding of CDR, bandgaps, PLLs and DLLs
  • Industry experience preferable

Preferred Education:


  • In progress towards a BS/MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • Solid understanding of basic computer architecture.
