The Business Analyst collaborates with all areas of the Workers Compensation Board (WCB), SAFE Work and external partners, to enable the WCB to articulate its needs and the rationale for change and to design and describe solutions that can deliver value to our stakeholdersJob Duties:
Defines and documents the needs of stakeholders/departments that will deliver value to a variety of stakeholders/departments as part of a project or through continuous improvement initiatives.
Conducts and leads comprehensive analysis to gain understanding of the WCB's current state, to develop and define a vision for a future state, and to establish and perform the activities required to move from the current state to the future state.
Defines, creates & delivers the appropriate training and change management strategies required for the organization where new or changed processes and systems will be introduced
Undertakes a wide variety of quality assurance activities to validate and evaluate the success of project deliverables
Develops a variety of documents including user guides, communication materials, strategy and approach documents and guidelines/templates
Participates in and/or facilitates brainstorming sessions or workshops with stakeholders to generate new ideas in finding solutions to business problems and redesigning new business processes.
Develops and delivers/presents training and informational literature on new processes for the user areas.
Conducts ongoing reviews to ensure that systems developed meet functional requirements.
Acts as a technical specialist/liaison between the business units and Information Technology to develop conceptual designs of proposed technical solutions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
University degree in a related field plus professional development in business or systems analysis, process reengineering or project management
Minimum five (5) years of business experience with at least three (3) years of business analysis experience, specifically, gathering and documenting business requirements and business process modeling
Knowledge of business analysis methodologies, project management principles and change management methodology
Advanced proficiency in the use of personal computers and software (Microsoft Office) in a Windows environment
Superior interpersonal skills including the ability to engage, build rapport and collaborate with staff at all levels within the organization
Well-developed research and analytical skills including the ability to obtain, assess and evaluate data to problem solve and support decisions
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing including the ability to produce complex reports
Ability to provide excellent customer service in sometimes confrontational situations
Ability to prepare and deliver presentations/training
Ability to plan and manage multiple concurrent initiatives to completion including implementation of services delivery improvements
Ability to adapt to and lead in a changing environment
Ability to think creatively and innovatively
Self-starter dedicated to continuous learning and development
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with multiple stakeholders
Knowledge of applicable WCB legislation, policies and procedures would be an asset
Experience in systems analysis, project management, process reengineering or change management methodologies would be an asset
Completion or working towards a certificate/designation Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP), Lean Six Sigma or Project Management would be an asset
