About the role
In your role, you will have the opportunity to take on a wide variety of tasks. Some examples are:
·Designing and conducting field studies and effects assessments related to vegetation and/or wetlands, including rare plant surveys, weed surveys and wetlands assessments.
·Writing and undertaking technical review of consulting reports for vegetation and/or wetlands.
·Preparing regulatory applications related to wetlands.
·Summarizing and evaluating vegetation and wetlands data.
·Coordinating projects and proposals of varying sizes, including managing the scopes, schedules and budgets.
·Serving as primary point of contact for internal and external clients in the delivery of ecological services.
·Liaising with regulatory agencies and indigenous stakeholders.
·Mentoring junior staff.
About you
You are solutions-oriented and have the following skills:
·A university degree in biology, ecology or a related field.
·A professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio or P.Biol.) or eligibility for a designation.
·Four to six years of experience.
·Experience leading and conducting vegetation and/or wetlands surveys. Experience in terrestrial ecosystem mapping is an asset.
·Strong vegetation identification skills.
·Excellent written and oral communication skills.
·Experience directing field crews.
·Experience managing teams, schedules and budgets.
Bonus Points
·A master's degree in a relevant field
·Experience with soil classification procedures
·Experience with the Alberta Wetlands Policy
·Experience in renewable projects in Western Canada
·Project management experience including management of scope, schedule and deliverables
