Human Resources Advisor

People & Culture

Dartmouth, NS / Greater Toronto Area, ON


Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, HR Advisors perform duties in collaboration with the Manager and as a member of the People & Culture team, assisting with the development and execution of corporate initiatives led by People & Culture.

The HR Advisor will be assigned client groups across Pinchin's regions, as we have offices coast-to-coast across Canada.


A Day in the Life of an HR Advisor:

  • Uses knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices to develop, implement, and modify HR policies, programs, and procedures
  • Provides consistent advice and assistance to employees and managers on HR policies, programs, and procedures
  • Resolves employee conflicts or issues in a timely and appropriate manner, escalating to the HR Manager when appropriate
  • Works directly with managers on employee performance management including annual performance reviews, development plans, disciplinary letters, and performance improvement plans as well as staffing plans and employee development initiatives
  • Facilitates proper employee documentation and accurate records in HRIS system (ADP)
  • Compiles reports to analyze data for key HR metrics and related projects
  • Supports the HR Manger in developing and implementing talent management programs and special projects
  • Conducts investigations relating to HR policy including health & safety and other workplace incidents
  • Facilitates employee offboarding, including performing exit interviews, and terminations, preparing separation documents, and managing departure logistics/administration with Finance and IT

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, a CHRP/CPHR designation (active) preferred or in progress
  • Minimum 35 years of progressive experience in Human Resources operations and employee relations
  • Motivated to work independently as well as on team projects and initiatives
  • Experience working with an HRIS (preferably ADP)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound reasoning, judgment, and problemsolving skills
  • Highly organized, creative, processoriented, demonstrated leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in professional services or consulting is preferred
  • Current and valid driver's license with insurance, and access to a vehicle required (workrelated travel will be compensated)
