    Description

    As the Senior Accountant reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting and Taxation, you will play a key role in overseeing the daily financial activities of AFD Petroleum Ltd. and its subsidiaries. This includes tasks such as reviewing and analyzing the general ledger, as well as preparing financial reports. You'll work closely with the Director of Financial Reporting and Taxation to guide and support the finance and accounting team in various accounting functions. This involves establishing and upholding accounting standards, practices, and procedures, along with preparing financial statements and reports for both internal management and external stakeholders.

  • Record-keeping for assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax obligations, and other financial transactions within the organization.
  • Investigate discrepancies in budget and variances.
  • Analyze financial information to generate reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Update the general ledger as necessary.
  • Assist in the year-end audit process and the preparation of audited financial statements.
  • Play a significant role in special projects as needed.
  • Communicate with customers, business partners, and other relevant parties.
  • Perform any other associated tasks as needed or delegated.

    • OTHER KEY SKILLS (or product knowledge)

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel and proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications
  • Working experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset
  • Management and / or supervisory experience
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

    • EXPEREINCE

    3+ years' experience in an accounting role with financial reporting

    EDUCATION

    Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred

    CPA Designation is required
