Jewel Welding Fabrication and Coatings Ltd., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking an Estimator/Project Manager to join the team in Maple Ridge and at various project sites around the Province.

Compensation

• ­­­­­­$100,000 to $125,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Summary

The Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of estimating and project management including startup, obtaining permits, liaising with subcontractors, and preparing tenders, budgets, estimates, and construction schedules. The Estimator/PM will work with in-house and external personnel to ensure project construction is executed in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining the integrity of design and will work closely with the organization to ensure the feasibility and costing of projects. ​

Job Duties

• Coordinate project startup, permits, and Construction Management processes.
• Prepare Tender documents, Budgets, Estimates, and Construction Schedules.
• Manage progress draws, invoicing, and control document processes.
• Oversee trade contractor site meetings, RFI's, and invoices.
• Verify and process change orders promptly.
• Resolve contractual issues promptly.
• Finalize sub-trade contractual matters.
• Supervise internal and external contractors or trades.
• Act as the primary liaison with site superintendents and sub-trades.
• Provide construction direction and oversight on-site.
• Coordinate Site Foreman and project workforce needs with VP of Operations.
• Ensure project team is familiar with project contract terms.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients.
• Manage project activities, resources, scheduling, documentation, and budget.
• Plan project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
• Establish mechanisms for tracking project progress and reporting to stakeholders.
• Conduct stakeholder meetings to gather feedback and expectations.
• Monitor project costs and procure additional funding as needed.
• Supervise third-party workers' efforts and billing.
• Conduct project postmortems and make improvement recommendations.
• Ensure construction is in line with design, budget, and schedule.
• Authorize/approve all project personnel transactions and requests.
• Enforce company, client, and project policies and standards.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by Operations Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Construction, Engineering, Building Technology, Project Management, or Quantity Surveying.
• Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certification preferred.
• 5+ years of construction experience.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and plans.
• Strong understanding of construction trades, civil techniques, welding, and steel fabrication.
• Excellent management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with local, provincial, and federal workplace regulations.
• Team player with proven team-building abilities.
• Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven track record of customer interaction and satisfaction.
• Results-driven mindset with effective time and priority management.
• Knowledge of contract fundamentals and contractor management.
• Successful project delivery experience using project management methods.
• Strong negotiation, diplomacy, and conflict resolution abilities.
• Skilled in organizing and facilitating meetings and feedback sessions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse staff levels.
• Proficient in both verbal and written communication.
• Ability to foster lasting relationships with stakeholders.
• Experience implementing cost control measures.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proficiency in office software including Excel, Word, and scheduling tools.
• Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
