Position Summary


The Foreman is responsible for the coordination of activities involving Labourers or General Workers to ensure that tasks are carried out efficiently and safely.

This role requires a more experienced labourer skillset and involves using tools while working closely with trades and subcontracts.


The Foreman possesses a strong work ethic as well as a strong attention to detail, with a keen eye to identify issues or problems before they arise.

A good understanding of drawings, and ability to read plans, and the ability to measure out materials accurately. Additionally, a willingness and ability to perform the required tasks (lifting, carrying, moving materials up to 50lbs.)


Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform normal and customary duties associated with operations
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of crew/employees
  • Provide thorough communications for all jobs with the Site Supervisor
  • Responsible for assuring that work crew begins working as soon as they are on the clock
  • Responsible for assuring that all needed tools and equipment are on hand and in good working order for the crew's daily tasks
  • Accurately complete documentation and daily reports and submit promptly
  • Responsible for the quality of work done on the job, assuring that all work performed by the crew(s) meets or exceeds the customer's or our quality standards and requirements, whichever is greater
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that quality conforms to specifications and that the work adheres to construction schedules
  • Accurately record employee time, equipment usage, production quantities, materials, and job notes and submit the information in the required timeframe
  • Maintain assigned equipment in good working order and perform field repairs as needed; Coordinate equipment maintenance with the Site Supervisor and notify them of breakdowns and required repairs
  • Train and mentor employees on the crew, ensuring their performance is at a consistent quality level
  • Maintain neat and orderly work areas following worksafe procedures
  • Communicate any problems/concerns to the Site Supervisor.
  • Actively communicate with crews and Site Supervisor as required
  • Actively communicate and handle customer complaints to resolution when appropriate
  • Communicate and cooperate with the Site Supervisor

Safety Responsibilities**Work in tandem with Site Superintendent and Construction Safety Manager to ensure overall site compliance.


Additional Duties:


  • Skilled and technical work in the construction, installation, & maintenance
  • Ensure Job site safety by following the company safety policies and practices and ensuring others are doing the same.
  • Ensure that the required PPE is available and used correctly by all personnel.
  • Supervision and training of crew members assigned to the project.
  • Material takeoffs, scheduling, and record keeping.
  • Complete required personal and project paperwork, both digital and hard copies.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • Maintain open communications with customers, vendors, and other contractors.
  • Maintain and track company tool usage.
  • Responsible for maintaining and renewing required certifications and licenses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ Years Experience
  • Education: Trade certification preferably Journeyman / Red Seal certified
  • Experience: Proven experience as construction foreman
  • Indepth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSH guidelines
  • Strong time management
  • Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively
  • Aptitude in math
  • Problemsolving abilities
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced work environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to complete tasks efficiently and in a time sensitive manner to meet deadlines/cutoff periods
  • Ability to work independently and cohesively as a member of a team and with all levels of staff
  • Computer Skills: Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and good working knowledge of computer software and most office equipment;
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Good physical condition and stamina
