    Intermediate Mechanical Engineer/Designer

At TWD Technologies, we are seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Mechanical Engineer / Designer to join our Burlington, Ontarioteam.

    The Intermediate Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning, organizing and execution of various aspects of mechanical engineering, piping engineering and design support for process and material handling equipment.

    This will include participating as a member of dynamic project teams with a wide range of types of tasks.

    The position will provide the opportunity to work in a number of industries in which TWD services including Oil Sands, Refining, Chemical and Power.

    Supervise, perform and check most types of calculations and design using both computer-aided and manual techniques.

    Perform all or some of the following:

    organize/plan jobs, write/review specifications, write technical bid evaluations, prepare/maintain schedules, develop/monitor estimates and manpower forecasts, work with project/client/field, material procurement, permit, and subcontract activities.

    Utilize vendor data and work with personnel from other disciplines as required for the performance of designs. Utilize/perform squad checks of vendor data and drawings from other disciplines.
    Travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of project and/or department goals.

    Preparation, review and approval of mechanical packages (EQ's) for material handling equipment (e.g., design of weldments, frames, chutes and equipment assemblies).- Review and approval of designs prepared by Mechanical/Piping designers.

    This includes development and review of stress analysis reports and piping specifications. Participation in PHA (Process Hazards Analyses) studies to analyze risks associated with equipment and manufacturing processes.
    Provide internal "Safe Design" checks on project packages.

    Preparation, review and approval of mechanical specifications for processing equipment (e.g., design of weldments, frames, chutes and equipment assemblies).

    – Detail 3D modeling of mechanical equipment using Autodesk Inventor and development of associated 2D equipment detail drawings
    Preparation of Scope of Work and Contractor Bid documentation packages.
    Review and approval of piping designs prepared by Mechanical/Piping designers. This includes preparation of stress analysis reports and development of piping specifications.

    Assisting in the ongoing development of TWD internal systems to improve our quality and efficiency of delivering effective projects to clients.

    Willingness to participate in and conduct field investigations. Provide engineering support in other areas of engineering discipline (e.g., civil, structural, electrical, etc.) Support the Business Development Team (BD) to effectively manage and expand existing customer relationships
    Support the BD team to grow and develop a new customer base
    Support BD activities including but not limited to proposal preparation, attendance at conferences, seminars, etc. for the purpose of networking and promoting the company
    Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
    ~4+ years work experience from graduation level, P.Eng will be an asset.
    ~ Strong experience in machine design and plant layout for process and material handling equipment, including the design of weldments, frames, chutes and equipment assemblies.
    ~ Strong 3D CAD design experience using Autodesk Inventor, Plant 3D and Navisworks.
    ~ Experience preparing and reviewing detail fabrication and assembly drawings.
    ~ FEA and Stress analysis for machine parts and assemblies (optional)
    ~ Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principals
    ~ Experience with multiple phases of projects including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision and commissioning is an asset
    ~ Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License to facilitate independent travel to project sites and other office locations
    ~ Office
    Manual dexterity to use computer & peripherals
    Driving on public roadways, private roadways and active construction sites
    Working outdoors

    Some travel may be required to facilitate work site engineering field review.
