    Description

    Abiona Centre ("the Centre") is an award-winning, accredited Children's Mental Health Centre that is a multi-service, non-profit, unionized, community agency located in the east end of Toronto. The Centre is committed to nurturing empowerment, independence and growth for young pregnant and parenting women, children and families in a non-judgmental, inclusive environment by providing a residential care and treatment program; supportive transitional housing; on-site high school program, community housing support and referral services; and maternal infant mental health programs and services. We do this by working collaboratively as a multi-disciplinary team with community partners to provide holistic programs and support that respond to mental health, education and transitional needs. The Centre also operates an EarlyON Child and Family Centre and an Early Learning Centre.All the programs and services are open to families, young women and their children living in the broader community.

    The Director, Housing and Community Support (the "Director") contributes to the achievement of Abiona Centre's (the 'Centre') mission, vision and strategic objectives through its pivotal leadership role in guiding program management, fostering service excellence, reflective supervision, and advancing professional development initiatives for the multi-disciplinary team.

    The Director leads strategic initiatives for the Centre's housing programs across three campuses, ensuring that the Centre upholds its values of inclusivity and integrity and complies with regulatory standards, while prioritizing the well-being and needs of the tenants. The Director also

    Provides leadership and cultivates a nurturing environment within the licensed child care centers and EarlyON Child and Family Centre, thus fostering healthy family dynamics and child development.

    Guides the Centre's secondary school programs in collaboration with the Toronto District School Board's Education and Community Partnership Program, in ensuring equitable educational opportunities to young parents.

    Through close collaboration with key professionals both within and outside the Centre, the Director creates a supportive and thriving community where every pregnant and parenting young parents and their infants as well as families with young children can flourish.

    Supervises:

    • Manager, Housing
    • Manager, Education and Child Development
    • Volunteers
    • Student Placements

    Qualification:

    • Master's degree in public administration, planning, housing administration, community development or a combination of education and experience.
    • Active pursuit of learning opportunities indicative of a genuine interest in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging practices, showcasing a commitment to continuous personal and professional development in fostering inclusive environments.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management and supervision, preferably in the field of transitional, supportive or RGI housing and community development.
    • Demonstrated experience managing within a unionized environment.
    • Demonstrated work experience leading an organization or program offering RGI supportive housing.
    • Knowledge of RGI legislation is an asset.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a multidisciplinary team.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience working with pregnant and parenting young parents and their children and families from diverse backgrounds.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Dedication and commitment to providing an outstanding professional level of services.
    • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve with an ability to bring quick resolution.
    • Proven initiative and follow through.
    • Knowledge of issues impacting pregnant and parenting female-identified young parents and their children.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
    • Courses or certificates in executive leadership, women's/feminist studies, financial management and human resource management, an asset.

    Working Condition:

    • primarily in an office environment within the Centre at the Broadview, Humewood and Sheppard campuses.
