Job Summary:
Primary Accountabilities:
Strategic Communications Counsel
- Provide advice and support to senior management and business lines on communications issues
- Develop and execute communications strategies aligned with the organization's goals and values
- Develop and execute a Social Media Strategic Plan for Canada Branch and align with industry benchmarks and practice
- Manage all internal communications for Canada Branch and provide support and advice for senior management and other departments
- Ensure that staff are informed about Canadian and global business and initiatives through a variety of channels, including newsletters, Town Halls and executive messages
- Manage and stage internal employee events, including Town Halls and Lunch and Learns
- Provide support for HR and Culture activities
- Provide writing support as needed for internal publications
- Deal Successes, Japanese and Global Corporate Banking news
- Provide communications support in the planning and execution of client events and webinars
- Ensure that the Canada pages on the global and Americas websites are uptodate and accurately promote the Branch's expertise and capabilities
- Research, lead and submit entries, on behalf of MUFG, for various corporate, professional and corporate and industry awards.
- Manage social media accounts for key executives to promote MUFG.
- Look for opportunities to promote the MUFG Canada story with key Canadian reporters and through MUFG's social media channels
- Work with front office to identify other communications materials that may be needed
- Work with front office staff and senior management to identify key sponsorship opportunities
- Work with conference organizers on logistics of sponsorships
- Manage branding opportunities to promote the MUFG brand in Canada
- Work with Americas and global branding teams on Canadian content for global brand advertising campaigns if needed
- Ensure that all staff are using MUFG branding appropriately according to MUFG Global
- Design System Manual and that appropriate approvals are received
- Provide support and advice on sourcing and obtaining MUFG branded promotional items
- Monitor industry trends and competitor communications strategies
- Chair the CSR Team and oversee fundraising and volunteering events and relationships with charities
- Manage activities for MUFG Gives Back
- Season of Giving, our biggest global initiative of the year
- Manage budget and seek funding from other internal sources as necessary, such as Social Committee, Securities, Americas CSR etc.
- Provide execution support for risk and control responsibilities assigned to the Business Unit Risk and Control Officer and related to the Second Line of Defense risk frameworks and compliance assessment requirements
- Provide execution support for the Issues Management Framework including the identification, remediation planning, ongoing monitoring and closure validation of open issues in a timely manner
- Carry out Self-Inspection tasks as required
- Participate in BURCO/BURM meetings
Technical Skills:
- Strategic thinking with the ability to align communication strategies with business objectives
- Strong proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and social media
- Strong relationship building and management skills
Experience Required:
- An experienced handson communications professional who can think strategically and execute tactically
- Organized, capable of handling multiple tasks and meeting stringent deadlines
- Independent, can work with senior leaders, and is confident to articulate ideas, concepts and strategies
- Expert strategic communications planning, writing, editing and project management skills
- Very strong interpersonal skills to consult, influence and collaborate with colleagues in crossfunctional teams
Education & Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
- 10+ years proven corporate communications experience with a focus on the finance industry
- 5+ years' experience in a senior communications management capacity in a large, matrixed organization advising C-Suite executives
