Job Title:
Community Mental Health Worker


Program:
Peterson Place - Surrey**
Classification: Standard Grid level 1- Adult, Youth & Child Worker

Rate of Pay:
$29.16 per hour; increments as per Collective Agreement


JOB SUMMARY:

Provide supportive partnerships with residents with mental health concerns by facilitating individualized
goal-oriented treatment plans which are based on a Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Model;
Support, motivate and encourage clients to live safely and as independently as possible and utilize
community rehabilitation, education, social and recreational programs.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum Diploma in a related human service field and oneyear recent work experience with
adults who have mental health concerns; or an equivalent combination of education, training and
experience; certification in Psychosocial Rehabilitation required

  • Sound knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and the
Recovery Model

  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with family members, the community and support
network, with team members and the wider agency

  • Demonstrated skills in planning, decisionmaking, coaching, humanrelations such as a genuine
concern and respect for mental health clients

  • Knowledge of current medications and medication administration/monitoring procedures
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of community resources is essential
  • Valid First Aid/CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Food Safe certification
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating system and MS Word; familiarity with an electronic
- case management system is preferred
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver license
  • Medical certificate of health and immunization record
  • Successful Criminal Record Check




HOURS OF WORK:
This is a casual/on call position.

Start and finish times may vary and flexibility with hours of work may be required to meet client and program
needs as determined by the Program Supervisor.

ensure safety of the persons served and colleagues, programs require Covid vaccination. Proof of
vaccination status will be required for successful applicants for this position.
