Job Summary:


The Data and Policy Analyst (D&PA) is responsible for guiding the renewal and development work related to NGC policies, as well as the implementation of data processes and analysis that supports the Gallery's reporting and accountability.


As a member of the Strategic Transformation & Inclusion department, reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategy & Inclusion, they work with internal teams to develop and support measurement strategies, using intersectional and equity-based lenses.

The Analyst will develop and support the implementation of a data equity strategy in alignment with the organization's JEDI&A commitments.


Requirements:


  • Education
  • University degree in a related field (Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Business, Economics, or another related field); or equivalent experience as described below.


Experience- Three - five (3-5) years of experience directly related to the principal responsibilities of the position in a government or public sector organization, or in an arts or social sciences organization including three (3) years progressive experience in corporate reporting, results-based management, performance measurement, and/or policy development.


  • Experience in analyzing and presenting statistical data including data visualization, dashboards, and other presentation tools for corporate reporting.
  • Experience in policy development and any supporting procedural documents.
Knowledge- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint).

  • Basic knowledge of social science research methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Crown corporation structure, the Treasury Board Secretariat and the Canadian Heritage Portfolio.
  • Knowledge of the National Gallery of Canada's strategic plan, mandate, and purpose, vision, and mission.
Skills and competencies- An understanding of the arts sector and the roles and accountabilities of Crown corporations.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capacity.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to internal stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Ability to synthesize information, write reports, analyze raw data, and present data analysis results visually.
  • Superior communication skills including verbal and written communication skills, in both Official Languages, as well as excellent active listening and presentation skills.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Ability to work in either a hybrid or virtual work environment.
  • Creativity and strong problem solving, root cause analysis and identification skills.
  • Ability to create and support an environment that fosters belonging and aligns with the NGC values.
  • Knowledge of concepts and issues related to reconciliation and JEDI&A is seen as an asset.
  • Demonstrates a growthmindset to create and learn.
