- Document drafting and review. Including but not limited to contracts, agreements, and governance documents.
- Organizing and maintaining contract files, tracking contract deadlines, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the organization with potential merger, acquisition, or preparation for investment opportunities as needed.
- Assist with postclosing matters, such as filing required documents with regulatory authorities.
- Identify risks, legal issues, and compliance matters.
- Drafting and maintaining corporate records.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external counsel.
- Ensuring corporate compliance with relevant laws and regulations (specifically related to cannabis retail activities etc.)
- Assist with any intellectual property matters while liaising with IP lawyers as needed.
- Assist with employment law matters as the company continues to grow.
- Other administrative support which could include basic invoice management, document control, data management and data reporting utilizing Excel.
- Paralegal certification along with 35 years in a corporate or private practice setting.
- Strong proficiency in document management systems and office productivity software (Microsoft 365 etc.).
- Experience in a dynamic and growthoriented environment.
- Experience with M&A activities, legal documents, and regulatory filings is an asset.
- Superb verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate legal concepts to both legal and nonlegal stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
