Role Overview:


Material Handler will perform those tasks and activities necessary to set up and maintain an adequate supply of raw material to production equipment.

A successful Material Handler will work under the general supervision of the supervisor and work safely while providing the highest quality, defect free product, and excellent customer service as well as meet all the essential functions of the position.


Responsibilities:


  • Adheres to all Company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent and prompt attendance record.
  • Safely operate fork in compliance with all Company safety standards.
  • Makes sure raw material is available at startup and throughout production job.
  • Complete material, color, and equipment changes for all scheduled changeovers
  • Ensure proper labeling of all materials including tracking of partial raw material gaylords and concentrate drums
  • Maintain plant housekeeping activities such as sweeping, mopping, trash detail, spill cleanup, grinder clean outs, and hopper cleanouts.
  • Premix material as required and measure Colorant and ensure accurate record keeping
  • Return excess materials and regrind to warehouse upon completion of production run.
  • Assist with other departments, including operators, production, shipping, and receiving, when necessary.
  • Inspect and maintain production equipment and report any issues immediately.
  • Manage movement of incoming and outgoing raw materials, components, and finished goods at the injection mold machines
  • Delivers materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas
  • Examines regrind amount so that scrap material is properly accounted for and reused where permitted and never allow the accumulation of regrind
  • Effectively use proper tools provided to change out raw material.
  • Performs warehouse material goods control including labeling and recording of all materials per established procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Experience in thermoplastic injection molding preferred
  • Knowledge of different plastics such as LDPE, polypropylene, polyethylene and more
  • Minimum 1year relevant work experience;
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills allowing one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment

Valid Forklift Licence

  • Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Conditions:


  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions:


While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to dust/airborne particles; heights; loud noise & vibrations; mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.

The noise level for this work environment is usually moderate.


Personal Protective Equipment:


  • PPE are required when performing job functions, such as gloves, hairnet, ear plugs, safety glasses, steeltoed shoes etc.
  • Seatbelt must be worn while operating the forklift.

Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to perform repetitive lifting, bending and jumping down;
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 + lbs. repeatedly;
  • Possess ability to sit and stand, including frequent walking, climbing and use of stairs, bending and twisting at the waist and knees, squatting or kneeling and carrying and lifting;
  • Ability to hear conversation and warning alarms;
  • Ability to visually inspect for small defects;
  • Ability to safely maneuver all equipment;
