The Opportunity

The Customer Service & Operations Specialist, Ocean and Air Freight supports the logistics division of DP World Canada with customer service & operational support.

In this role, you will:

Organizing of transportation with strong focus on ocean and air freight.

Create files, arrange for pickup and obtain shipment documentation necessary for domestic/international transportation, liaison between parties to provide status updates.

Follow appropriate work instructions or checklists to create consistency and minimize errors.
Enter shipment and bookings details into CargoWise 1 or other approved freight forwarding platforms in a timely and accurately, submit all required documentation from the system (i.e. Master, AES, ACI, EDI, booking confirmations, etc.) and create invoices.
Use approved external providers as necessary to arrange transportation of goods.
Quickly resolve any miscommunication and disputes to ensure safe on-time deliveries.
Coordinate pricing and prepare quotations to customers for ocean and air shipments.
Ensure safe transport execution in line with official requirements.
Handle shipments from open to close. Must be able to handle the day-to-day operational activities and close out the file in accounting.

What you bring to the role:2 plus years working within the freight forwarding industry with a strong focus on ocean and air freight.
Graduate of an accredited freight forwarding program with strong day to day knowledge of the Freight Forwarding platforms
Understanding of Canadian Import/ Export regulations with a strong focus on IATA regulations
Strong customer service skills, proactivity and be a team player.
Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate with clients, carriers, other forwarders, vendors.
Previous Canada work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
