    Description

    Purpose:

    CLASP is a Student Legal Service Organization that provides low-income individuals with legal services, delivered by trained law students and supervising lawyers.

    CLASPS' Identification (ID) Clinic is an initiative that assists vulnerable members of the community to obtain identification documents needed to access basic services.

    The Community ID Clinic Representative role develops and coordinates implementation of a 2-year project focused on creating a community training program, pursuant to a grant that is funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario.

    The role plans, develops, and implements the ID Clinic Project. They will create and present training materials through workshops, to community workers. The role directly supervises law students participating in the project development and implementation.

    The role also oversees law students participating in the clinical program, both in the capacity of developing written materials and presenting training workshops as well as direct supervision of student managed ID clinic files.

    Oversight of students includes conducting regular file review meetings and completion of periodic evaluations of student role establishes and maintains networks with community members and organizations, conducts outreach and community consultations and ensures feedback is incorporated into the implementation of the Community Legal Aid Services Programs' ID Clinic project.

    The role is committed to providing a high level of service to the community, including dealing courteously and effectively with individual at all levels.

    The role establishes and maintains community partnerships and understands the importance of community consultation.

    Education:

    Post-secondary diploma in Social Services or related field.

    Experience:

    Experience working or volunteering in a community-based setting.
    Experience in advancing access to justice for low-income individuals and groups.

    Skills:

    Knowledge
    Knowledge of anti-oppressive practice.
    Knowledge of relevant legislation and laws regarding identification documents.

    Skills
    Attention to detail.
    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    Effective time management and organizational skills.
    Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
    Ability to critically analyze problems and develop effective, creative options.
    Flexibility and adaptable to new situations.
    Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc).
