What
You
Will
Do
Reporting to the Unit Manager, Orion Claims, Travel Medical Claims Coordinator will drive the following:

  • Collaboratively work with our partner and the technical consultants to bring claims to closure following policy guides, and internal process documentation
  • Communicate with Members and our partner as required on a regular basis to ensure the claim is moving to resolution, and resolve any queries that arise throughout the claims process
  • Manage a pending of travel claims
  • Where required, investigate coverage concerns, and ensure all data is received to present to our partner
  • Work with our vendors to ensure that our Members are receiving exceptional customer service by means of claim execution
  • Reviewing and auditing invoices, monitoring and reporting results of the allocated claims experience, including maintain claims policies and procedures as well as ensuring ongoing compliance to meet quality standards
  • Manage claim disputes, liaise with vendors and Members to ensure high quality of customer service is provided
  • Manage files daily, including reviewing medical reports, letter and documents, ensuring adequate reserving practices, identifying serious losses from the onset of the claim, and reporting within time guidelines

What You Have

  • Postsecondary education completion, preferably a University degree in the field of Health Studies or Nursing is preferred
  • Knowledge of or previous experience with the claims handling process, preferably in the travel, health, or P&C insurance industry
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and conditions is a strong asset
  • Flexibility to work outside of Ontario business hours, to coincide with British Columbia business hours may be required on occasion
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and decisionmaking skills
