The Advancing Youth Mental Health (AYM) research team at the Offord Centre for Child Studies, led by Dr.

Kathy Georgiades, is committed to improving child and youth mental health and reducing inequities in access to effective mental health care through integrated mental health science, policy and practice.

AYM is seeking a highly motivated, full-time Research Program Manager to oversee this growing program of research that comprises multiple epidemiologic studies focusing on child and youth health, mental health and access to care in Canada, including a CIHR-funded national, longitudinal study examining the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic response on Canadian children, youth and their families.

The Research Program Manager will oversee all aspects of the program including (1) establishing and overseeing integrated workplans across multiple research projects; (2) organizing staff and resources across projects, including budgets and timelines; (3) overseeing and maintaining communications, including stakeholder engagement, website updates, social media, newsletters, etc; and (4) managing financial aspects of the research program.

AYM is looking for an organized and effective leader with extensive research experience who is ready and motivated to advance their career to the next level.

This is a 24-month position with opportunities for renewal.


Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct primary and secondary research on new program concepts to determine potential fit, and viability.
  • Develop implementation plans for multiple research projects of various scope (e.g. local, multisite, provincial, national and international)
  • Develop and critically evaluate concepts and alternatives, and formats for new research programs.
  • Provide regular reports to Principal Investigator(s), make recommendations, and implement feedback and direction.
  • In consultation with the Principal Investigators, stakeholders, or partners, develop detailed program financial forecasts, business cases and proposals for new suites of research programs.
  • Manage the development of the program.
  • Create a program marketing plan.
  • Ensure that relevant research methodology is applied to all research programs and all research material is handled in accordance with established protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate the activities of research staff and resources to ensure that projects progress in accordance with predetermined protocols, budgets, and timelines.
  • Write a variety of documents, including, but not limited to, data management and operations documentation for projects (i.e., standard operating procedures).
  • Oversee and provide guidance for the design of promotional strategies, knowledge and dissemination efforts, and related materials to encourage participation and support for research projects.
  • Oversee and support quantitative analyses of research data.
  • Write sections of scientific papers, funding proposals, grants, and abstracts.
  • Ensure the accuracy of content and distribution of research program knowledge outputs on websites, social media, and marketing materials.
  • Develop program content for department and program website and publications.
  • Develop and conduct evaluations within research programs, provide feedback to Principal Investigators, and incorporate feedback into future research program development.
  • Update and maintain the accuracy and confidentiality of student records and information.
  • Respond to student and instructor needs and inquiries.
  • Ensure research staff satisfaction through consistent and continuous engagement.
  • Manage financial aspects of research programs including developing budgets, setting fees, establishing enrolment and financial forecasts, and ensuring maximum productivity.
