To support the on-going growth of our business, we are currently seeking highly motivated, energetic, safety oriented and hands on Heavy Equipment Technician(s) with a strong backgrounds in both On-Road and Off-Road Equipment to join our growing maintenance team.

2nd year (and above) apprentice's are also welcome to apply. Apprentice training, sponsorship and funding offered.

We promise that this position will not leave you bored. This is a permanent, full-time role, in the City of Edmonton, with no travel required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist supervisor with the repair and maintenance of equipment and scheduling in the daily completion of preventative maintenance and major repair work
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, forklifts and other machinery as required
  • Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer's specifications
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
  • Adjust, repair, or overhaul mechanical, hydraulic, power plant and pneumatic systems
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using precision tools and gauges
  • Repair, maintain, and regularly service off road equipment; including Komatsu, Link Belt, Cat, Liebherr, etc
  • Repair, maintain, and regularly service commercial trucks and trailers such as Freightliners
  • Adjust equipment and repair and or replace defective parts and components
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures and make recommendations on repair options
  • Operate milling machine and other tools and equipment where necessary
  • Comprehend equipment manuals, diagrams, and schematic drawings
  • Perform maintenance on lubricating systems, agitators, compressors, pumps, engine rebuilds, bearings, seals and gear boxes
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and maintenance records as required through Company policy or existing legislation
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by Supervisor

  • Superior knowledge of Heavy-Duty parts and components
  • Proven mechanical and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to set up and operate all machines common to the trade and ability to operate equipment such as milling machine, drill press, etc.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills in order to prioritize critical tasks in a high volume and busy environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills
  • Resultsoriented team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to plan jobs
  • Ability to actively listen and use creativity to solve problems
  • Ability to recognize the environmental factors and risks that enable and support safety in the workplace
  • Ability to maintain professionalism always and work with limited supervision
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to complete reports as required
  • Ability to multitask and meet objectives/deliverables
  • High standards for work, meticulous, with great attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Confident, resourceful, and highly motivated
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, where necessary
Education and Experience

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (2nd year and above apprentices will also be considered)
  • At least two (2) years' experience within a Heavy-Duty Mechanical shop environment
  • Some welding experience is considered an asset
