POSITION OVERVIEW:


We are excited to invite a dedicated and proactive clinical research project assistant to play a vital leadership role in a single-centre randomized clinical trial focused on pasteurized human donor milk supplementation in the well-baby unit at Mount Sinai Hospital.


Responsibilities:

Lead Study Recruitment:

Utilize your communication and organizational skills to engage and recruit study participants.

Donor Milk Preparation:


Handle the preparation of 1 bottle of donor milk per day, including thawing and aliquoting on the 18th floor at the milk bank, ensuring safe transportation to the well-baby unit on the 16th floor.

Data Collection:

Assist in data collection, conducting monthly phone calls or in-person visits to families, and meticulously filling study questionnaires.

Milk Sample Collection and Cortisol Analysis:
Support the collection of milk samples and help conduct cortisol analysis to contribute to research outcomes.

Coordination:


Act as a bridge among various stakeholders in the trial, including clinical staff, milk bank staff, study courier, and research team members, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

Data Entry:

Ensure accurate and timely data entry into RedCap to maintain the integrity of the study database.

Participate in Clinical Research Rounds:
Engage in discussions and knowledge-sharing during clinical research rounds, fostering a collaborative environment.

Supply Management:

Take responsibility for maintaining and ordering essential study supplies.

Addressing Queries:

Be a source of information for families and clinical staff, addressing questions and concerns about the study.

Administrative Support:

Assist with administrative tasks related to presentations or manuscript preparation, contributing to the dissemination of study findings.

Flexibility in Work Hours:


The start and completion time of the workday will vary depending on study requirements and this will require some work in the evenings and on weekends.

The ability to adapt to changing schedules is essential for this position.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in human nutrition or related degrees
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a project assistant capacity
  • A strong background in research and a keen interest in infant nutrition and maternal health
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with study participants and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data collection and management techniques.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic research environment and work effectively in a team setting.
  • Prior experience in clinical research or infant nutritionrelated studies is an asset.


A recent Provincial Directive mandates all employees of public hospitals in Ontario to be either fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or be regularly tested.

All new employees joining Sinai Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and be on track toward full vaccination within six (6) weeks; participating in mandatory twice weekly Rapid Antigen Testing Program until fully vaccinated.

There are very limited circumstances in which approval will be given for a medical exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
