    Duties

    The main duties of the position include but are not limited to:

    The primary responsibilities for this position will include the dissection and analysis of wireless communication protocols and systems to understand their functionality and implementations. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to extract insights and from these RF signals and systems to better understand the security risks and operating parameters. This work will be performed in laboratory settings and field trials as required. Additionally, this role will involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and partner organizations to understand the broader system and its integration into operations.

    Intent of the process

    The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Ottawa, Ontario.

    This process may also be used to fill current and future vacancies with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, security requirements, and conditions of employment.

    This process may also be used to staff future positions in Toronto, ON.

    ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

    ED1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

    ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

    EX1. Experience as an electrical engineer, computer engineer, or a suitable engineering equivalent.
    EX2. Experience in software development using a high-level programming language (e.g., C/C++, Python, Go, etc.).
    EX3. Experience in digital signal processing.
    EX4. Experience with communication systems principles, techniques, and technologies.

    ASSETS

    AEX1. Experience in software development for automated laboratory measurement and data acquisition in physical and virtual test setups.
    AEX2. Experience in the design and fabrication of electronic circuits.
    AEX3. Experience with mobile or wireless communications systems design, implementation, or testing.
    AEX4. Experience in the test and evaluation of embedded systems.
    AEX5. Experience with analog and digital circuit design.
    AEX6. Experience delivering technical presentations to engineering colleagues and industry partners.
    AEX7. Experience in performing computer network penetration tests and/or red teaming.
    AEX8. Experience in identifying threats or vulnerabilities of computer networks or systems.
    AEX9. Experience using open source or commercial hacking tools and techniques.
    AEX10. Experience in antenna theory, design, and measurement.

    OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    Willing and able to participate in outdoor field trials. This could include an occasional requirement to work in remote locations, on aircrafts, ships, or military ground vehicles.
    Willing and able to travel occasionally.
    Willing and able to work overtime.
