The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting to fill a permanent full-time position for an
Environmental Utilities Labourer - Construction & Maintenance who will perform various labouring duties in the Class IV Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection and Stormwater Collection utilities.
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Level 1 Alberta Provincial Certification in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection preferred.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- One year experience in underground deep utility construction of water and wastewater systems preferred.
- Must pass and maintain Hazard Assessment, Supervisory Ground Disturbance, WHMIS, First Aid, H2S, Confined Space and Rescue, Driver Training and other courses as determined by the City or Provincial requirements.
- Ability to achieve 7.2 (approximately 72 hours) continuing educations credits per three year cycle.
- Valid Class 3 Driver's License with Q Endorsement.
- Demonstrated safety skills in the use of specialized equipment including, but not limited to, respirators and supplied air, air quality monitors, and confined space entry equipment.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to use a wide range of construction tools and portable water testing equipment.
- Ability to safely operate assigned equipment with a high level of skill in an urban environment, often with limited operating space and significant underground and overhead utilities, while near people, traffic and site obstructions.
- Able to read and interpret utility plans.
- Ability to work unsupervised and cooperate with colleagues as a team and to follow and understand written and verbal instructions.

Remuneration:
$31.14 to $32.78 per hour
Hours of Work:
80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday; extended shifts; some emergency and scheduled evening and weekend work may be required.
