The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day accounts payable transactions including processing invoices, validating invoice coding and approvals, and matching to purchase orders.
- Ensure invoices are coded appropriately.
- Record entries relating to processed payments into the appropriate cost centers and legal entities, including intercompany transactions.
- Process, review, and track invoices to ensure payment terms are kept current.
- Communicate with initiating managers, vendors, and internal parties to manage payment requirements.
- Balance sheet reconciliations.
- Recharge reimbursable expenses to internal and external customers and manage receivables and collections.
- Preparation of HST filings; and
- Cash management including account reconciliations, funding transfers, and posting of journal entries to the general ledger, where applicable.
Qualifications:
- 35 years of relevant experience
- Business/Accounting Diploma from an accredited college or similar qualification required
- Knowledge of basic accounting (debit and credit, journal entries etc.)
- Understanding of Microsoft Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office products
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced and challenging environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Selfmotivated and demonstrates good work ethic and a willingness to learn
