- Being a parent may be the most important and most challenging role we play in a child's life.
- Parents generally know more than anyone else about their child and what is best for their child.
- Engaged and involved parenting is essential for children's learning and development.
- All parents can use extra information and support that can help them to make the best decisions about their child's health, growth, education, and well-being. The purpose of this program is to provide extra support and information to parents in this important and challenging role they play. The program additionally aims to help parents to foster Ismaili Muslim values in their children from an early age.
- Facilitates weekly sessions. This includes reviewing curriculum in advance, preparing materials, preparing activities, facilitating discussion, and following-up with parents. Facilitator Guidelines are provided for each weekly session
- Participates in a short pre and post session debrief to review session, receive feedback and ask questions
- Works collaboratively with SEED Centre Manager to identify additional supplies and materials required for a lesson in advance
- Supports parents in understanding the importance of ECD, role models behaviour that will create a quality early childhood environment, and provides additional resources/information where possible
- Attend national training and professional development sessions per term to enhance knowledge, skills and confidence as a SEED facilitator
- Works with regional Master Trainers on an ongoing basis to flag potential issues and concerns for further training and professional development and is open to feedback
- Experience and skill in working with children and families (preferred but not required)
- Willingness to facilitate using experience-based techniques for children (training will be provided)
- Maturity, reliability, flexibility, professionalism
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- No formal ECE knowledge or training required

About the Program
The Supportive Environments and Experiences for Development (SEED) program is a national early childhood development (ECD) initiative coordinated by the Aga Khan Education Board for Canada. SEED targets parents and other primary caregivers of Ismaili children from birth-to-four years of age. The purpose of the program is to support parents and families in their engagement and involvement in their children's learning and development during the early years. Weekly group sessions enable experience-based facilitated sessions for parents/ caregivers and their children and promote music and movement, early literacy, spirituality and faith-based, and school-readiness experiences.SEED is based on the following principles:
