Job Summary:


Reporting to the Team Supervisor for the North Water Treatment facilities, this role is responsible for assisting in the day to day operational and process activities.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Will assist Team Supervisor in ensuring daytoday operations are completed by operations staff. Assist with capital design and construction projects and all EA's and servicing strategies for impacted plant.
  • Assists in delivery of planned preventative maintenance activities to meet approved levels of service for all assets.
  • Assist in the coordination of maintenance planning and execution at the facility.
  • Support Team Supervisor in ensuring all Occupational Health & Safety and MECP requirements are followed and met by both internal staff and external contractors.
  • Liaise with contractors and ensure work by contractors is completed as requested/required/directed. Act as OIC (Operator in Charge).
  • Assist in operational activities to support preventative/predictive maintenance, corrective action, breakdown and unplanned work programs, including remediation and repair activities.
  • Use SAP-PM CMMS system to initiate and monitor work orders as required.
  • Recommend improvements to DWQMS and QUEST procedures, work instructions and practices. Perform water operator and other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:


Essential

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of four (4) years working with UV Treatment.
  • A thorough understanding of regulations enforced by the MECP, Ministry of Labour (MOL), Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Transportation, TSSA, ESA, and other relevant legislation related to water treatment.
  • The ability to coach operators, clearly deliver instructions and provide appropriate feedback.
  • An aptitude for computers in order to effectively manage work orders within the SAP system and familiarity with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System.
  • Be a cooperative team member who possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Water Treatment experience in Ground Water Systems.
  • A college diploma or university degree in an environmental field.

  • The incumbent will be required to serve on standby and respond to afterhour callouts, as specified by Public Works Operations Practices.
  • The ability to work in confined spaces and oversee and perform designated duties in inclement weather is also required.
