Instructor, Information Technology (Term)

Applied Computer Education

D U T I E S
Reporting to the designated Chair, the Instructor(s) will teach online and on-campus courses for
Applied Computer Education programs. Courses may cover topics in areas such as Application
Development and Delivery, Data Science and Machine Learning, IT Operations or Cybersecurity.
Duties will include teaching existing courses, collaborating to develop and update courses, and
also contribute to the learning environment of the department by committing to ongoing
professional development to stay current with industry practices, supporting peers' learning, and
participating in departmental and College projects and committees. Solid technical expertise and
strong communication and intercultural skills are required to inspire students in a blended learning
environment. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. Please include your area of

  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology related field; an equivalent combination of
- education and experience may be considered
  • Relevant Experience with programming and the software development life cycle, Security or IT
Operations, data science, analytics and machine learning, or other recent applicable work
experience in a strongly related industry

  • Experience with technical documentation and technical writing
  • Knowledge of User Experience and User Interface philosophies and practices
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management philosophies and practices
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with changes in technology and processes
  • Ability to work remotely and on campus
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning
and continuous improvement

  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education
program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
