Why is this role important?

  • The Analyst, Canadian Patient Experiences Reporting System (CPERS), is responsible for supporting patient experience data collection activities, conducting data quality analyses, and carrying out reporting activities including maintenance of the private reporting tool. The Analyst will provide support to clients submitting data in adherence to CPERS data submission requirements and assist in responding to client requests for information. The Analyst will work closely with CIHI's Performance Improvement and Capacity Building (PICB) team that is responsible for research and development work related to patient experience measures. The Analyst will also work closely with Information Technology (IT) team members who provide technical support for the CPERS system to carry out user testing and troubleshooting for bugs and system changes.
  • What you'll do
  • 1. Provides client support for new or prospective clients in the process of implementing CPERS requirements, including responding to questions regarding data elements, data submission processes, onboarding etc. This would involve working collaboratively with CIHI's PICB, Client Access and Engagement and IT team members.
  • 2. Updates and maintains the minimum data set data dictionary and other documentation needed for program operations.
  • 3. Supports data submission cycle processes, ensuring timely receipt of the data and tracking data quality issues. This includes raising process and quality issues pertaining to systems and identifying and implementing resolutions; assisting with the data capture and quality checking of electronic submissions; performing ongoing data quality checks and contributing to data quality documents as per the CIHI corporate data quality framework.
  • 4. Investigates data quality issues in the CPERS database and works with internal IT staff to troubleshoot and resolve data issues as needed.
  • 5. Supports the development and analysis for analytical products using CPERS data, which may involve linkage with other databases such as the Discharge Abstract Database, etc.
  • 6. Supports the development, testing, onboarding and operations of the CPES private reporting tools.
  • 7. Provides timely responses to requests for data/information from internal and external clients ensuring compliance with CIHI privacy policies and CIHI and department procedures.
  • 8. Participates in meetings with external working groups and prepares documentation, presentations, and briefing notes, as required.
  • 9. Assumes responsibility for other related duties as assigned by the Program Lead and/or Manager.
  • What you'll bring to the table
  • Undergraduate degree in health sciences, health information, statistics, computer programming or related field. Graduate degree or equivalent experience in health services or research is preferred.
  • One three (13) years related experience.
  • Experience in the manipulation and analysis of large crosssectional and longitudinal data sets an asset. Familiarity with relational databases is an asset.
  • Experience in the preparation of statistical and descriptive reports.
  • Experience with Python/R or other statistical or data query software and Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail while maintaining ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Proven effective written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a deadlinedriven environment.
