What you will do:


Reporting to the Manager, Client Services, Employee and Labour Relations, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for providing a full range of Human Resources (HR) leadership for management and staff.

The position provides Human Resources expertise, knowledge, and consultation to managers in addressing all matters related to people; supporting management decision making with proactive advice and solutions designed to meet current and future needs.

Core responsibilities will include advising, guiding, educating and supporting an assigned client group as it pertains to the management of their human resources from an operational and strategic perspective.

Using knowledge and techniques in the areas of employee and labour relations, attendance management, performance management and organizational development, the HR Business Partner contributes significantly to the organization's business objectives and culture.

The HR Business Partner provides risk assessments, options, advice and guidance and information to managers such that decisions are well informed.


This role is a key point of contact for operational leadership that ensures that their decision-making aligns with HR best practices.

The Human Resources Business Partner will play a key strategic role in supporting the organization's leaders in integrating Human Resources best practices and programs into their business.


What you bring to the role:

Education

  • Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) membership in good standing required

Experience

  • HR experience within a unionized environment is required.
  • Demonstrated experience, providing employee and labour relations advice guidance, and effective solutions in supporting Human Resources needs of clients.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in investigation, analysis, coaching, negotiation, consultation, mediation, conflict resolution, critical thinking, prioritization, collaboration, problemsolving, analytical, interpersonal, and relationship management.
  • Must also have experience in areas of employment law, employee, grievance handling, recruitment, accommodation/modified work placements, conflict resolution, displacements/terminations.
  • Superior knowledge of legal principles and framework associated with all aspects of Labour Relations (including collective bargaining, grievance arbitration, discipline and discharge, progressive performance management, attendance management etc.).
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in leading workplace investigations and advising, guiding, educating and supporting leaders in managing their human resources capital and strategic business objectives.
  • Experience working with an HRIS system and proficiency in MS Office required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing valuesbased, serviceoriented and collaborative partnerships.
  • Selfdirected with the ability to exercise independent decision making and discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and sound professional judgment when responding to matters concerning sensitive personal information.

Skills

  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, facilitation and organizational skills with superior conflict resolution.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
