Description

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, and working in a collaborative team environment, the Internal Communications Specialist will develop and execute integrated internal communications strategies to build knowledge, inform, and engage our employees.


The Internal Communications Specialist works closely with members of the various divisions of Customer Service & Communications Department, in addition to staff in various civic departments, agencies, and service areas - and in particular, Human Resource Services.


As the Internal Communications Specialist,
you will:

  • Develop and execute integrated internal communications strategies for departments, agencies, and service areas.
  • Write and produce various internal communications materials.
  • Coordinate and support the posting and sharing of communications materials.
  • Support internal communications events and initiatives

Your education and qualifications include:


  • Diploma in Creative Communications, or Post-Secondary education in communications, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Experience writing and editing clearly and concisely in plain language.
  • Knowledge of communications theory and best practices.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; must be able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proven problem solving skills; must be able to develop creative solutions to achieve objectives.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders and build consensus.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work under mínimal supervision, manage stress, and set priorities during extremely busy periods.
