Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Facilities and Operations is a diverse portfolio responsible for a range of essential services and work across our five campuses.

From managing capital construction and renovations, providing utilities and energy management, to delivering student and campus services, Facilities and Operations works behind the scenes to make the university a great place to study, learn and work


Position


The Manager, Asset Work Management leads a diverse group of staff which includes Cost Analysts, Cost Recovery and Purchasing Logistic Specialists, Data Management - System Coordinators, and Infrastructure Work Coordinators, all specializing in their area of expertise.

In addition, this incumbent is responsible for the management of the Generalist team who have a specific focus on Human Resources (HR), Payroll and Communications transactions.

These staff support the five unique cross-portfolio business units within F&O.


Duties

  • Manages the Asset Work Management team responsible for the daytoday operations which includes the management of financial data of both capital and operational transactions within the Asset Works Enterprise IWMS (AiM) system.
  • Collaborate with the Asset Planning & Information team, Project Management Office, and Finance Partners to orchestrate a cohesive approach, ensuring the precision of capital accounting information for informed strategic decisionmaking.
  • Under the consultation of the HR Service Partner Network, manage a team that facilitates administrative support and counsel to area leads and supervisors when navigating HR policies, procedures and processes.
  • Establishes clear performance expectations for individuals and the unit, measures performance regularly and recognizes achievements. Addresses performance issues. Accepts responsibility for outcomes of the unit's work positive or negative.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and advance collaborative working partnerships internally and externally.
  • Provides comprehensive advice, recommendations and perspectives on current organizational activities and issues related to areas of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience complemented by a business/accounting diploma.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting.
  • Over 5 years of work experience in a large organization.
  • Strong managerial skills with a proven track record of managing a diverse staff complement.
  • Thorough understanding of business processes to facilitate continuous review for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Indepth knowledge of PeopleSoft Applications, financial job costing systems, eprocurement, and business system processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience with operations/maintenance work order management systems.
  • Profound understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
