As a Team Leader in the LC-MS/MS Lab, your main responsibilities are to:
Assist supervisor in coordinating instrument and staff schedules and providing technical expertise.

  • Coordinate instrument and staff schedules to ensure efficient utilization of resources in order to achieve quality and TAT requirements.
  • Complete senior level LC-MS/MS data review and approval (Job level
  • Tier 2 data approval).
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise through training, mentorship, and coaching of staff
  • Communicate any issues affecting turnaround time and quality with Supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Perform analyses using LC-MS/MS instrumentation in support of strategic and operational activities.
  • Communicate potential delays and revised reporting dates to Supervisor and Customer Service in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair LC/MS/MS instrumentation. For repairs that cannot be resolved internally, assist Field Service Engineers return instrumentation to a "fitforuse" state.
  • Proactively identify and resolve analytical and process issues.
  • When appropriate, develop, modify and/or update standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WI).
  • Evaluate changes in present procedures, which could improve efficiency, recovery, productivity, etc. Recommend solutions that will make the lab more competitive and effective.
  • Responsible for writing SOP's, instrument and method validations, instrument data validations and managing analysis on unusual sample matrix provided by clients.
  • Responsible for inventory management and ordering of lab supplies
  • Authorized to conduct reviews of records (control charts, instrument maintenance activities).
  • Remains current with regulatory requirements and changes, ensuring appropriateness of analytical methods and systems to meet these requirements.
  • Assists in keeping current of the latest technological advances in their field and assists to continuously improve efficiency and client service and satisfaction.
  • Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program.
  • Implements, maintains, and enforces the Quality Management System.
  • Responsible for responding method audit findings (MIA's), Nonsystematic Conformances (NSC's) and Corrective action required (CAR's).

You are the ideal Team Leader for LC-MS/MS Lab, if you have the following:

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline and/or equivalent related experience in an analytical laboratory environment.
  • Act as Department Lead when manager and supervisor are absent.
  • Ability to problem solve using creative processes; works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Very keen attention to detail, following precise procedures and producing comprehensive technical records.
  • Works both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good time management, teambuilding, communication, multitasking, and priority setting skills.
  • High level of work production in a facedpaced laboratory environment.
  • The position requires flexible working hours. Overtime and shift work may be necessary.
  • Some lifting and carrying (up to 10 kgs) and may involve long periods of standing.
  • Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate personal protective equipment.
