Position Overview
Reports to the Principal Investigator.


Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Oversees computerized laboratory database, including data cleaning, cutting, programming, data storage and management
  • Perform easy to complex statistical analysis
  • Assists in preparation of data for scientific presentations and research manuscripts
  • Development of tools and programs to assist with data visualizations, decision support tools, and knowledge translation products
  • Advise and train students, coworkers and researchers in statistics/biostatistics and specific databases as needed
  • Ensures that work assigned is completed as required
  • Ensures that immediate supervisor is kept informed of activities and progress of work
  • Share knowledge and expertise to improve team work
  • Keep uptodate with advances in field of statistics/biostatics

Qualifications / Requirements:


  • Bachelors degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent required
  • Experience working in data science as a research assistant required
  • Courses in database management, multiregression analysis, survival analysis and repeated measures analysis
  • Working expertise of Statistical software: R (required), SAS (preferred), and STATA (preferred)
  • Proficiency in a Windows environment: Knowledge of MS office (required) and MS Access (preferred)
  • Ability to interpret/explain results from data analyses in the context of the research project
  • Effective communication of statistical ideas (oral and written) with health researchers
  • Ability to multitask and great organizational skills
  • Ability to manage and determine priorities
  • Strong analytical reasoning skills and decision making skills are essential
