    AECOM's Transit and Rail Signals group is seeking a Transit & Rail Signals Design Engineer to work with an existing team of 4 design engineers and technicians.

    The position is open for immediate employment based out of AECOM's Mississauga, Ontario office. This is a position of an experienced signals design engineer who is seeking a challenging position in their field.
    This individual would deliver both large and small-scale signals projects in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Canada. As a signal design team member, the successful applicant will have multiple roles.

    This position will be based out of AECOM's Mississauga, Ontario office with requirement to work at project sites located in downtown Toronto, 2 days per week.

    Primary role as a Signals Design engineer.
    Comply with corporate safety, values, and initiatives.


    Design:

    Projects will be for:
    North American heavy-rail freight and passenger systems to AREMA C&S standards
    Perform design, review, and checking (up to 2nd level) for:

    New and modified vital circuitry and application logic programs for automatic block systems, centralized traffic control, interlockings, and highway grade crossing warning systems.

    Review own work and work done by others for adherence to applicable standards, rules and regulations, as well as all applicable client standards and signal design policies and procedures.

    Prepare technical specifications.
    Perform design, review, and P. Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering + 6 years experience in railway signals design
    Professional Engineering License or eligibility
    6+ years experience in software for crossing applications and CTC signals applications
    6+ years experience working in AutoCAD and Microstation design
    Driving license
    Available to work weekends and night shifts if required.
    Ideally 10+ years of experience in railway signals design
    Experience with Metrolinx, TTC, CN, CP, VIA Rail, AMT or similar.
    Understanding of CN (GI's & SCP's), CP (RP's) and Metrolinx Signal Design manual, GI's & SCP's.
    In addition to office-based design, also experience with testing/commissioning, construction, maintenance, and/or operations.
    Experience delivering projects for commuter rail or freight rail.
    Significant experience with AREMA-based heavy-rail signal design.

    In depth knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations pertaining to railroad and transit signal systems and highway-rail grade crossing warning systems.

    Proficient in highway grade crossing warning design, microprocessor-based constant warning time devices.
    Experience writing technical specifications.
    Competent written and verbal English skills.
