    Our Mississauga, Ontario office has an immediate opening for a "Junior Environmental Scientist/Engineer" to join our team.

    You are a recent graduate of an Environmental Science or Engineering program from an accredited University and are pursuing a P.

    You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an aptitude for technical writing.

    You have gained some experience either through recent employment, Coop and/or summer work placement, but it's not the end of the world if you haven't because what we're really looking for is someone with the right attitude and a desire to learn and develop.

    The Junior Environmental Scientist position is responsible as a Phase I ESA specialist and field support for challenging contaminated sites investigation and remediation projects.

    Strong attention to detail and accuracy and practiced at report writing and data analysis;
    Knowledge of Ontario environmental legislation and regulations, codes and standards (e.g., Strong focus on quality and technical excellence;
    Ability to work in a team environment;
    Ability to maintain flexibility and adaptability to scheduling changes and occasional overtime is required;

    The ability to make sound, defensible decisions in the field; General to strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).


    Field Work Activities:
    Co-ordinating and executing field activities at various types of contaminated sites, including, industrial, commercial, residential, institutional, military, etc.

    Ensuring that all field work is performed in accordance with Corporate Health & Safety policies and programs and applicable Health and Safety regulations.

    Communicating with senior scientists and managers with respect to the completion of Phase I/One and Phase II/Two ESAs, remediation programs, excess soil characterization programs, and monitoring programs.

    Conducting Phase I/One ESA site visits and inspections and documenting findings in a clear and concise manner.
    Supporting senior scientists with the supervision of drilling and remediation programs.
    Collecting soil, groundwater and/or vapour samples, in accordance with standard industry practices and regulatory provisions.
    Coordinating and maintain field equipment maintenance, charging and repairs;
    Preparing chain of custody forms for samples and coordinating laboratory submissions.

    Preparing and maintaining Phase I/One ESA, Phase II/Two ESA, excess soil characterization and remedial program field notes in a clear and concise manner.

    Compile and interpret historical records collected from various online sources
    Travel to sites to observe site conditions and to conduct interviews with persons knowledgeable of site activities
    Assisting project managers with the preparation of Project Health & Safety Programs.
    Assisting project managers with requesting quotes from subcontractors.
    Preparing data analytical tables with comparison to applicable regulatory standards, criteria, guidelines, etc.
    Preparing Phase I/One ESA and Phase II/Two ESA reports for review by senior managers.
    Coordinating the preparation of detailed site plans with drafting department.
    Conduct project administration tasks as required, including timesheet generation.

    A University degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geological Sciences.
    One to two years of Industry experience either through current employment, Coop and/or summer work placement.
    A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.
